Mass Production 3D Printing Without the Cost and Wait of Tooling
Production-Ready Parts in Weeks, Not Months
Why Wait Months for Tooling?
Traditional injection molding can require significant upfront tooling investment and months before your first production parts are ready.
With additive manufacturing, you can go directly from CAD to production.
Start production without the upfront cost of molds and tooling.
Keep production closer to your operation and reduce supply chain dependence.
Move from approved design to production parts in weeks instead of months.
Update your CAD file without rebuilding or modifying a mold.
Scale production without committing to expensive tooling.
Choose from engineering-grade nylons and advanced production resins based on your application.

SLA 3D Printing
High Detail. Smooth Finish. Production Volume.
Stereolithography, or SLA, uses liquid resin to produce highly detailed parts with smooth surfaces and excellent dimensional accuracy.
SLA is a strong choice when appearance, fine detail, tight features, and surface quality are important.
Ideal for:
- Detailed production components
- Housings and enclosures
- Consumer product components
- Automotive components
- Covers and bezels
- Components requiring a smooth finish
- Production parts where detail and appearance matter
Choose SLA When You Need:
High detail + smooth surfaces + production-ready resin materials
SLS 3D Printing
Strong Nylon Parts Built for Real-World Use
Selective Laser Sintering, or SLS, uses a laser to fuse nylon powder into durable production parts.
Because the surrounding powder supports the part during printing, SLS does not require traditional support structures. This allows for complex geometries, internal features, snap fits, lattices, and lightweight designs.
SLS is ideal when strength, durability, flexibility, and functional performance are priorities.
Ideal for:
- Functional production parts
- Brackets and mounts
- Clips and fasteners
- Enclosures and housings
- Snap-fit components
- Jigs and fixtures
- Complex assemblies
- Lightweight structural components
Choose SLS When You Need:
Strong nylon + complex geometry + functional production performance
SLA vs. SLS: Which Is Right for Your Part?

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Industrial additive manufacturing can be used for production runs ranging from thousands to much larger volumes. The right production method depends on the part, material, geometry, application, and required volume.
It can be, particularly when tooling costs and time to production are significant factors. Additive manufacturing eliminates traditional mold tooling costs and makes economic sense for many low- and mid-volume production applications. The best method depends on your specific part and production volume.
Merit 3D has production capacity exceeding 100,000 parts per month, with production applications ranging from approximately 1,000 to 1,000,000+ parts.
Many production orders can ship in approximately 2–3 weeks after the design and production requirements are approved.
SLA uses liquid resin and is particularly well suited for highly detailed parts and smooth surface finishes. SLS uses nylon powder and is well suited for strong, functional parts and complex geometries.
No. SLA and SLS 3D printing produce parts directly from your digital CAD file, eliminating traditional injection molding tooling.
Yes. Submit your CAD file and the Merit 3D team can evaluate the geometry, application, material requirements, production volume, and other factors to recommend an appropriate manufacturing approach.
